Inspiration Gold leaf textile, 19th C. India
Gold and silver leaf is used in Indian textiles as a decorative finish
on fabric, which is an influence of the Muslim courts. This style of
ornamentation is called “Roghan” and the technique is used as a substitute
for elaborate
embroideries. This design was adapted from a 19th century Roghan head
covering. Embroidered in two tones of gold metal wire on a black silk
ground.
