Inspiration Wiener Werkstätte, 1900 Vienna

Wiener Werkstätte(“Vienna Workshop")founded in 1903 by Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser and Fritz Warndorfer, was a collective of architects and craftsmen that aimed at fusing architecture and interior design into a “Gesamtkunstwerk”, or total work of art. These artists experimented with various materials to create buildings, textiles and objects that combined classical elegance with streamlined functionality. This pattern, inspired by the early naturalistic motifs of art nouveau of the Wiener Werkstätte is worked in silk yarn on a gold silk ground.
